Good Books!
Does anyone have any good book recommendations? I'm looking for some books to read and don't really know what to read. I haven't read for years, until recently so I don't know who some good authors are or what books might have gotten good reviews. Any ideas would be great.
Re: Good Books!
I guess it really depends on what you like. I don't keep up with the new authors and books but here is an off-the-top-of-my-head list:
For suspense, I'm currently reading Dan Brown's Deception Point.
For clean romance, I'm currently reading Marcia Lynn McClure, she has lots.
For Sci-Fi and Fantasy, my husband reads Terry Brooks, he has lots.
Of course, there are always the Stephanie Meyer books that are so popular right now. I enjoyed her adult novel, The Host, as well.
I can always read any Jane Austen for a quick pick me up.
I'd love to see what others are reading, too!

I'm in the same boat! Between school and work and now a baby, I haven't had time to keep up with reading anything like I used to. Anyone else able to make some recommendations?

Re: Good Books!
I like Natasha's suggestion of starting a book club and sharing our Goodreads lists. I am always looking for something great to read! I just finished The Red Tent, and that was okay. Some of my favorites are:
Eat, Pray, Love (Elizabeth Gilbert)
East of Eden (Steinbeck)
The Man of My Dreams (chick lit--Curtis Sittenfeld)
Good Grief (chick lit--Lolly Winston)
A lot of my fave books are "chick lit" but I'm very picky about them. I have a hard time reading the single girl in the city looking for love books. I guess what I love is strong female characters by good writers.

I just read "Eat, Pray, Love" actually, it was pretty good.
I mostly read fantasy, some of my favorites are:
The Sword of Truth series (Terry Goodkind)
Sevenwaters Trilogy especially the first one "Daughter of the Forest" (Juliet Marillier)
And I love anything by Robin McKinley
If nothing else I just stick to the classics like Jane Austen and Le Mis or Counte of Monte Cristo (although I would get the abridged version if I were you, they tend to get off on a tangent, like the sewers of Paris, while more important things are happening)

Hi Everyone,
If anyone is interested in starting a book group, let's try it! Maybe in the spring?
I was talking to my cousin about the pressure to read something dreadful that turns me off from book clubs. If enough of us are interested, maybe we can have a few books to choose from at each meeting and members can choose which one to read? Am I making any sense?
P.S. I belong to paperbackswap.com and think it's a great way to get rid of & receive new books.
