Post by Amy Mon Aug 31, 2009 9:29 pm

Hi--wow, it's September already! I know this board has been kind of slow lately. How is everyone? I have to say that I am trying to get an action plan together of how to survive a winter here in a tiny apartment with two toddlers. affraid Any advice? Anyone up for meeting at Willow Park sometime this week? I think we will be going on Wednesday morning at 10...let me know if anyone wants to go/needs a ride!

Hey! I know september already! We'd love to come, but we are full on potty training this week, so we're not leaving the house much Sad
Exciting news (other than potty training) is I am expecting baby #3. I'm due april 18th! So not too far along yet, but still excited as ever!

Congratulations! That is very exciting news!! Happy and healthy pregnancy wishes to you!

I can't believe it is September already, nuts!!

I know what you mean about not looking forward to winter. I think I've got all these ideas and activities... then they run out within a month. It is hard having little kiddos inside so much! Brielle has preschool going this year, so she'll be able to at least get out. But what about all the little, active toddlers? I can't believe Cache Valley doesn't have a Little Gym, or Gymboree... or SOMETHING that is set up for the real little chitlins. "I have a dream!"... now I just need the capital.

We are doing good here! Brielle had her first day of preschool today. She RAN for the door and had so much fun! She can't believe she is lucky enough to go back again tomorrow Wink Brynnlee is still into EVERYTHING. I mean really: EVERYTHING. I've had to do so much more baby proofing with her than with Brielle. We are starting potty training this 3-day weekend *crosses fingers*! Brooklyn is suffering from reflux Sad It is so hard to watch her suffer and scream so much. She is a sad little girl. I've completely cut dairy out of my diet to help her. I've been wanting us to go vegan, so I guess this our chance!

Can't wait to hear how everyone is doing!

So sorry to hear about the reflux. Chloe had that pretty bad too, and it was awful. She still periodically gets it, but it's died down alot. Fingers crossed potty training is successfull for you~

Logan does have a Mommy & Me Gymnastics and a Little Bounders. I want to put Christian in. I'm not sure on the ages but it seems like it started at 18 months so Christian would have to wait until next month. Here's the website Air-Bound Gymnastics I'm just starting Montessori homeschooling with Christian, so hopefully that will help keep him busy and if all else falls there is always the playplace in the Mall by Penny's. Here's a blog by a girl that does Montessori with her Toddler, she really has a lot of good ideas. Chasing Cheerios Blog This is my first winter with a toddler so we'll see how it goes! confused

Congrats on the baby!!! I'm jealous! I'm ready for another one but Dh isn't, plus his job is kind of ify right now and we're thinking of sending him back to school in the Spring so it's probably not the best timing. I'm just starting to get really baby hungry Crying or Very sad .

So sorry about the Acid Reflux my little cousin had that really bad. She didn't sleep through a whole night until she was three. I think she might even still be on meds for it. That is a miserable thing for a parent to have to watch and a baby to have to go through!

Yeah... but wouldn't it be great if there was someplace FREE to go and hang out with other moms when the weather is bad? Not a structured class... not something to pay for... just someplace with tables to bring your own snacks and plenty of room for the kids to play and run. I've signed up for Cache Valley's homeschoolers list... I hope I can go to a few fun things they do.

Tosha--Thanks for the Air Bound info! I didn't know about that! I have been looking into Montessori methods and love Chasing Cheerios. I found a good free curriculum online (not Montessori but fun), if you're interested. Check out Letter of the Week.

Brandilyn-- What is your dream? We might have the same one! I think if we got enough mothers interested in having a local place for moms, we might be able to petition the city council for a grant to get something started. I know that we can set something up at Whittier Center for free (they are also going to build a new playground there this month!)...but it is kind of an old building. When I lived in Japan, we had a place that you went and paid $1 to go to for as long as you wanted...just a huge room with padded floors and all wooden toys. There was a leader there who would sing a few songs and read a few stories. It was so perfect, and I think it would be so perfect here!

Adelina--Congrats on the new baby-on-the way!!

Your welcome! I love Montessori. I think it's cool how the treat children age appropriately but in an adult way. I have so many things I want to by though lol. I've heard of that Letter of the Week thing before, thanks I'll have to check it out.

I think that would be AWESOME if we could get something like that going!

I know--playdates are hard to set up when a lot of us live in apartments. Other than meeting at the park, we need a good place to meet-up!

There is a Yahoo! group for Cache Valley homeschoolers. Lots of moms with great ideas! Some have been homeschooling for decades. A great resource.

I've seen on the meetup.com when they gather at the Whittier Center. I just can't seem to hit any of their meet up times with the nap schedules my two youngest have right now. I need to force myself to leave the house more, even if it means a later nap once in awhile.

I also feel like we're able to discuss and chat more on here than on meetup.com, so I feel like I 'know' some of you better. Anybody want to take that first plunge to plan something? I'm sure it'll still be difficult to come up with anything that fits everyone's schedules.
